Bamboo Flooring Installation
Bamboo flooring can be installed in many different ways, although generally the process is very similar to installing ordinary hardwood floors. Bamboo floors may be glued directly onto the sub-floor, fixed to plywood or floated.
The time it takes to install bamboo flooring is dependent on the size of the job, the difficulty of the layout and whether the bamboo floors come pre-finished or are sanded and polished after installation.
Critical step in the flooring installation
A critical step in the flooring installation process is preparation; bamboo floors must be moisture acclimated for a minimum of 72 hours prior to installation, and the installation area should be maintained at a temperature between 20 and 24 degrees and within a humidity range of 35–55% at all times during the installation.
In new buildings, flooring should be the very last item installed to prevent damage. Prior to flooring installation, the subfloor must be thoroughly cleaned and flat (maximum variation of 4mm over a three metre radius). If possible, the subfloor may need to be sanded or filled to create an even, flat surface.
